23/ 03/ 2007 - Last Day - Luxor

Last day of our holiday... :(
Didn't waste any time though...We visited Karnak Temple (EP25=RM17)
You must be wondering....is there anything else to see besides temple and pharaohs...???Well, since this is the last place in our holiday itinerary, I won't bore you with anymore thereafter.... :)

Huge area...1.5km by 800m..all dedicated to the Theban gods and to greater fglory of Egypt's pharaohs. Karnak was the most important place of worship in all Egypt during the height of Theban power and was called IpetIsut (meaning the Most perfect of Places)

Avenue of Ram-Headed Sphinxes

Great court

Him again???? Ramses II

Remaining column of Kiosk of Taharka. Taharka built this open-sided pavilion of 10columns, each rising21m and topped with papyrus-form capitals.

Supposed to be like the above column but has fallen down.

Hahahaa....You've guessed wrongly...he's not RamsesII, but RamsesIII :P

Some depicts on the pylon

We are at The Great Hypostyle Hall

Amazing carvings on columns..

Errr...how can that thing there stand withstand the environment factors? Will it fall one day? Apparently this whole area is supposed to be dark, cos it's supposed to be roofed....Roofed???.....hmmm...

Admiring the Great Hypostyle Hall from near... Imagining 134 columns....

A few statues crossing their arms with "Key of Life"

Great Festival Hall of Tuthmosis III
This hall is slightly unique cos it has colours in it..A reference to the pharaoh's life under canvas on his frequent military expeditions abroad.

Fallen obelisk from Hatshepsut...

Giant scarab beetle dedicated by AmenhotepIII to Aten, the disc of the rising sun....Tour guides say if you walk around the scarab for once-good luck, three times for marriage, seven times for a child.... :P

Statues....

We also managed to spend some time in the Mummy Museum in the town(Entrance EP20=RM14), but sincerely, nothing much to offer...just a room.

We had some lunch and left at 1pm as the flight was 4pm...apparently we've to check in 3hours before departure time.... We reached Bahrain around 9.30pm.... Happy and satisfied as we really didn't waste a minute of our time while we were there.....

Holidays are always fun, guess the only thing which is not is the money...hhahaha....but as long as you enjoy every single minute of it, then it's all worth it....hopefully my next holiday with my family in Italy and Switzerland in May would be good as well as we haven't been for a holiday for a long long time...especially abroad...
